2025 恐怖簡介：故事設定在1986年，即《招魂3》的五年後。沃倫夫婦因艾德在第三部中經曆惡靈事件而突發心髒病，已正式退休，不再從事驅魔工作。他們仍會到大學巡回演講，但連這類機會也在逐漸減少。一些事件最終還是讓他們重返戰場。 這次的核心案件，是沃倫夫婦生涯中最著名的一起事件之一：斯莫爾家族鬧鬼案。據“新英格蘭通靈研究協會”（由艾德與洛琳的現實中的女兒朱迪和女婿托尼·斯佩拉負責運營）稱，1970年代，珍妮特與傑克·斯莫爾搬入賓夕法尼亞州西皮特斯頓查斯街上的一套複式住宅。隨後數年，包括他們的女兒與傑克的父母在內的家人紛紛聲稱經曆了超自然現象，從怪味、怪聲到鬼魂騷擾等。
